Statement:
It is essential to study the elements that make a work great. These include: relationships of objects, shapes, lines, spaces and colors; their juxtaposition toward the surface and boundaries; their rhythm and balance.
Study of these elements takes place whenever a painting or sculpture is reviewed. It is essential to learn from review and to progress, while remaining free to explore and change.
Subjects are chosen from slices of life. While focusing on the elements above, subjects must remain subservient to the elements.
Vita / Lebenslauf:
Dornberg was born in Los Angeles in 1940. He and his twin brother have painted since an early age. Dornberg was inspired by Rempel in high school to explore juxtaposition, and by Elgart and Amato at UCLA to paint anything and to do it a lot.
Over the last 12 years he has produced over 1000 oil paintings (which are displayed at, www.dornberg-impressionism.com). Images of his work appear on websites, in poetry e-zines, in printed publications and on book covers.
Dornberg has created approximately 25 sculptures with cast resin and arc welded steel. He is a natural constructionist with visionary skills of balance and unique relations.
